President Trump's Tweet on New Year
Donald Trump wished Pakistan "Happy New Year" with a strong tweet. United States and Pakistan share a long time history since
Pakistani independence in 1947. Both countries have worked together for many
decades on various issues. US-Pakistan relationship is always full of
surprises. This relationship saw many ups and downs but it never reached such a
low throughout history.
The US president tweeted:
After this tweet things turned bad for both countries. War of
words started between both countries. US accused Pakistan of providing safe
havens to terrorist outfits. Pakistan summoned the US ambassador and showed
concern over US attitude. Pakistan claims that it has fought the Afghan war on
its soil and has given great sacrifices in war on terror.
Pakistani authorities called a national security meeting in
light of Trump’s tweet. Pakistan wants the world to recognize its efforts and
sacrifices. Pakistan has suffered the most. No other country has given so much
as Pakistan had for the purpose of peace.
After Trump’s tweet, US have also suspended military aid of
Pakistan until it delivers what US wants. On the other hand Pakistan has said
that it will not do more. Pakistani government
has called it “No More”.
The distance between these two nations will help none but the
third parties taking advantage of the situation. Moving away from each other is
not a good choice. US is a big power, it should acknowledge the sacrifices of
Pakistanis in this war. The trust deficit should not prevail.
Let’s hope things get better and both Pakistan and the US can
sustain a healthy long term relationship. We believe that people from both countries want peace and stability in the region. The current situation should be
diffused.
